Audience at diversity assembly
To the Diversity club members is an important thing to know what the audience thought about this new perspective assembly that when more than what the audience was expecting it to be.
“Diversity to me is whenever you have a lot within a different backgrounds and stuff, different cultures and you put them together so they can blend their different cultures and what do they do,  not only having different ethnics, different food or how they do things  and they look like and act” I was and the expecting the assembly to be kind of like last year, like different countries to walk up and just have a picture from the flag, and a few performances from their culture but after it really open my eyes because people is so different  and we don’t ever take the time to knows that, so I really thought going into it, will give me a good stuff to learn from” Braydon Grone  CHS Student. “I would like to hang out with this student and be around with their families just to be able to interact to different environment that I am used to because  I am being able to do that and it’s a completely different experience”

“When we went into the diversity assembly I was just expecting it to be similar to years past and I think a lot of the students will agree with this, so just basically a breath representation of the students representing other countries who attend to central and to identify the country and to see the people from there, but it was a lot different and more detail than that” Quinlan Pulleyking Said. “Diversity to me is thru Central and how at the school we have so much diversity are a really big community and I really like going to Central for that reason”

“Diversity is people of all different races, colors and beliefs coming together as one and acting similar to be friends”  “I really liked how many different countries were there and lots of different aspects  from different cultures, it was more fun than what I was expecting , the other assemblies are boring , but this one was fun, I would really like to talk to them and learn from their cultures and just what they do during their free times and be able to learn how they act and how they come to be part of this cultures “ Parker Mauzey  CHS Student.
Diversity as a Topic
The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along
the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.  It is the exploration
of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

“Diversity is people from different background coming together to share their experiences and how they do stuff together” Mrs. Feldman ‘I think the assembly it was amazing the kids that were involved in the assembly did amazing, they were really bright to be up there, because I know is hard sometimes to be different when you in high school, and be up there and show their cultures”. “I am very proud of all of them and I think is so neat that I have the opportunity to know a lot of them” Mrs. Feldman said.

“I decided to be part of the assembly because my friends were there and I asked myself, why am I not there? That is why I decided to be part of it” Esmeralda ESL student said. When asking what your favorite part from the assembly was, “OMG I can’t really tell, everything was perfect putting together, I just like everything, all the performances and how they put a lot of work into it, it was just great”.

“I wanted to be part of the assembly because I wanted to show the school my nation and where I came from and just feel how is to be on the stage in front of everybody” Karla said ESL student.
“When they student started preparing the assembly I did not want to be part of the assembly because in some school there is discrimination when talking about diversity, but here I feel good and at safe place, It makes me feel special, to be part of the assembly it means to represent my country” “we all were very good and did a great job, we hard very hard for this and the audience liked and is how we know we did a good job, they were having fun as we were when we were performing” Cesia Pena said, ESL Student.

To have a place to show the cultures it means a lot to the ESL Student it not only to show the school their traditions or where are they from it makes them feel at a safe place.

Being from one nation it does not describe how you look like or how people acts. We also had a student from India who decided to be involved with assembly dancing a traditional dance from India, it was one of the favorites performance, with her positive attitude, smiling and a good transmitting of the song she perform a great routine. They assembly was closing a another Latin Dance performed by two student, one from Mexico and other from Poland, they present a song specialist on merengue style, who made some of the students cheer for them, all the student who had the opportunity to be part of this assembly have a different backgrounds and different traditions, all of them wanted to be part of the event to show the school their talents, but the most important reason was to let the people know their country, because some the students came from some countries that some of our students do not know pretty well, so this event bring an opportunity to them to became known to the world and the school.
