Foreign Exchange
Students were part of the Diversity Assembly
The Central Diversity Assembly has change in a lot different
ways this year. This year the central diversity club had involved the ELS
student as a part of the assembly and also some of the foreign exchange
student, one of them who wanted to be part of this event was Koral Saeed that
is a student from Israel and came to spend this year and the United States to
share some of their experiences with American students and also to learn some
the other cultures that are in Central. She decided to share her culture
reciting a poem that talks about conflict between Arabs and Jewish and what
happens between them, “There is something between them and they should love
each other because we are all the children’s of God Arabs in Israel are
consider red Palestinians, but Palestine does not exist on the map because is
what we know as Israel today”, Saeed said. The poem was more deep than what was
expecting to be, it was represented by Koral Saeed and Alicia Rodriguez they
both are senior here in Central High School, one fun fact about this it was
that there is not an actual writing down of this poem so, they had to look it
up on YouTube and wrote it down by themselves.
What makes this interesting is how they were interpreting it
in front of everyone; we saw how they were dressed with traditional clothes,
which made more interesting to watch and to be part of the audience. They had
to practice for at least two weeks to make this performance as best as it could
be, they had to stay after school, and get some time together, one of the
hardest things to do it was to make one the parts of the poem where they both
had to talk at the same time, so they had to practice, over and over to have
that part down and get it ready for the assembly it took them a lot of time to
get perfect down, but as we saw in the assembly, Central High School have a
diversity students, all of them have something unique to share with the others
students, all the time trying to teach a good idea of peace on the world, and
that when the world is together we all make something amazing.
